Grow Your West Coast Swing!
With decades of experience teaching West Coast Swing here in Huntsville, we know that one of the greatest challenges dancers of all levels face is knowing how to progress. With this in mind, we’ve styled our dance classes after a martial arts dojo to provide a clear, understandable path of progression for our students.
Everything starts in our Fundamentals class, where we teach the absolute basics of West Coast Swing from the ground up. Once they’ve learned the basics, students progress from one color of “belt” to the next once they can demonstrate proficiency with a specific set of skills in their dancing. Belts are used to admit students into more advanced classes, and to communicate the skills that each student should focus on learning next.
New belts are awarded during belt testings, which happen regularly throughout the year. Testing provides students the opportunity to receive personal and specific feedback about which parts of their dance are developing well, and which parts would benefit most from further practice.
We are passionate about helping everyone grow their West Coast Swing, no matter their level of experience. If you’re new to West Coast, or even to partnered social dancing, you’re in the right place. Come join our Fundamentals class, and start your dance journey today!
6:00-7:00pm
Our Fundamentals class teaches the foundations of West Coast Swing. In two months, you’ll learn about the three types of patterns, you’ll learn to dance many of our most common six- and eight-count basics, and you’ll be introduced to the most important technique concepts of West Coast. This class is suitable both for complete beginners with no dance experience, as well as for experienced dancers looking to learn a new style.

7:00-8:00pm
Students who have earned their yellow belt are welcome to participate in our Intermediate class. This class introduces topics beyond the basics as we begin to explore the deeper concepts and techniques that make West Coast such a unique and versatile dance. Students will discover how to apply the concepts learned in the Fundamentals class in a variety of different situations. Our Intermediate class also introduces the concept of musicality, adding a new layer of appreciation and expression to a dancer’s toolbox.
8:00-9:00pm
Students who have earned their blue belt are welcome to participate in our Advanced class. This class expects students to already be confidently able to dance West Coast Swing so that we can begin to explore broader concepts of dance and their applications to our specific style. Individual dance technique is emphasized, with a focus on musicality and personal musical expression.

I’ve never danced before. Is West Coast Swing a good style to start with?
Yes! West Coast is a deeply rewarding style, with years of learning and practice in store for you. But you don’t need years of experience to start having fun! West Coast is most notable for its versatility, and after just your first month of classes, you’ll be ready and able to dance to many of the popular songs you listen to every day.
Do I need to buy special shoes to attend your classes?
Not until you want to! That said, we recommend that you avoid wearing shoes with high-traction materials like rubber. You’ll want to be able to turn in place easily, without twisting your ankles.
Do I need to bring a partner to class?
Nope! You’re more than welcome to attend classes by yourself. We rotate partners during class to ensure that everyone learns together.
How much do classes cost, and where are you located?
Our classes are $22 per day, or $80 for a month of four classes. We teach classes at the Paradise Event Center in Huntsville.
How do I register for classes?
Our online registration system is under construction right now. Visit our registration page for more information, or just fill out our contact form and let us know when you’d like to start classes! We accept payment for classes in person, just before the start class.
